Kwikset door knob installation hidden screws
My exterior door deadbolt has gotten stuck - it'll open with the lever but not the key. By spraying WD-40 inside the lock, I've been able to get it to work but it's very stiff. I'd like to remove the lock and inspect the inside, either to clean/lube it or replace it. Unscrew Your Door Knob. Begin by holding the door knob securely in place. Using a Philips-head screwdriver, turn counterclockwise to unscrew a knob with standard hex-head screws. If your knob has a pinhole or small slot opening, use a flathead screwdriver to push it inward. A paperclip or small pin can also be used if the screwdriver is too big. Rotate the key 90 degrees clockwise. Insert the SmartKey tool fully and firmly into the SmartKey hole. You may feel the tool click inside the lock. Remove the SmarKey tool. Remove the current key. Insert the new key you wish to use with the lock. Make sure your key is FULLY inserted. The edge of the key touches the indent in the cylinder face.
