Radiator boiling/engine not overheating. I have a '12 Wrangler JK with 88k miles. Had the radiator flushed 15-20k miles ago, which started this problem again. Coolant empties in 3-7 days, but temp gauge reads normal. Happening whether I run the a/c or not, but happening more this summer.2012 2-dr JK - I actually just had my thermostat changed and that's when I started having trouble with the fan always running on High. On Start, it is fine. But driving it up my road at 35mph, in no time it's kicking on High. Once it gets on high speed, the temp fluctuates between half to 3/4 hot.It does nothing when the key is turned, besides turn the radio/ac on. Yesterday, I noticed “HOT OIL” come up on the dash. The hot oil warning is not for engine oil, it's for the automatic transmission. Check your transmission fluid level and condition. Also check for any obstruction of the transmission cooler. Thermostat is not that old (about a year) so I replaced the PCV valve which was toast (and quite a pain in the arse). At idle or even low speeds (45-50) it’s fine. But as speed increases the temp goes up. If your Jeep Wrangler is running hot, it is a serious problem.

The temp gauge on your dash is just an implied temp, not an actual reading. Your EVIC should show actual coolant temps. But to answer your question; yes, the 3.6 runs hot.
