From what I remember, the roots and the warriors gets you to around 1700, so maybe theres a couple roots still around. As others have stated, there are Dream Bosses, which are tougher versions of their physical counterparts. You should probably check out the false knight, soul master, dung defender or broken vessel again with the dream nail. This is actually what got me over the edge, you can get more than 2400 (I'm at 2485 now).
